The AM Story
This is the story of Anne Marie
She said she didn't care
Computer terminals can rule the world
I'll have more time to do my hair
But then at work she started using one
For all kinds of different jobs
Now she can't read add or think
She's just one of many knobs
One of many knobs
She was always saying put your faith in the machines
She was always looking forward to bigger and brighter scenes
Just grab hold of technology and go which way it leans
Too bad she found out that now she's staring at terminal screens
And it doesn't seem all that long ago
That the boss told her about office automation
Just seems like yesterday
That the office seemed alot further away
But now she just sits she just sits and stares
At the video screens all day
She doesn't know who her friends are
She'd rather speak to machines
Machines anyway, machines anyway
She was always saying put your faith in the machines
She was always looking forward to bigger and brighter scenes
Just grab hold of technology and go which way it leans
Too bad she found out that now she's staring at terminal screens
She trusted it, trusted it, trusted it, trusted it,
Faith in all the classes
You'd better get some protection Annie
Some Terminal Sunglasses
